The family selected "Cwtch" (pronounced "Kutch"), a Welsh word for "cuddle," a name Robert called perfectly suited to a young joey that spends much of its time in its mother’s pouch. He said the name fits the animal’s affectionate nature.
Robert, who helps run Australia Zoo with his mother Terri and sister Bindi, thanked the royal children for their help. Terri commented fondly on the announcement, and Robert expressed hope that Cwtch will inspire people to care about wildlife and conservation.
